Partners

West Hills Church and Young Life have formed a team that is reaching out to young people with developmental disabilities in a program called Partners.

Partners is a free weekly event where kids and people with disabilities come together to hang out, have fun and learn about life. Meeting at 7:00 PM on Thursday nights at the church, Partners uses the youth lounge, the gym and other facilities of the church. The evening is broken up into an opening time where the kids and parents socialize with each other and hang out. Part of the fun includes two or three skits and/or activities done mostly with involvement with the kids. Finally comes a fun Club and a short talk, where a leader tells a story about Jesus.

Young people with disabilities — like their able-bodied peers — have hopes and dreams, needs and fears; but many of them feel isolated and have no one to share their struggles with and no one to encourage them and help them be all God designed them to be. Partners helps fill the void many of these young people face. Partners gives kids and young adults with disabilities the chance to have fun, make friends, develop self-esteem and begin a relationship with Jesus Christ.
